1889   Born in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka
1906   Takes over his father's "Shitate-ya" business. Later, invents Jikatabi, rubber-soled cloth footgear (with the separated big toe) worn by Japanese laborers. Expands the business nationwide
1928   Supports the establishment of Kyushu Medical School (presently Kurume University)
1931   Establishes the Bridgestone Tire Corporation
1952   Inaugurates the Bridgestone Gallery (In 1968, its English name was altered to present name: "Bridgestone Museum of Art") on the second floor of the newly built Bridgestone Building in Kyobashi, Tokyo
1955   Assumes his position as honorary President of the Kurume Education Club
Builds the Japanese pavilion for the International Biennial Exhibition in Venice and donates it to the city of Venice
1956   Establishes the Ishibashi Foundation and assumes his position as President of the Foundation
Builds the Ishibashi Cultural Center as well as the Ishibashi Museum of Art and donates them to the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Bridgestone Tire Corporation
1959   Awarded the distinguished service medal for the education of society by the Minister of Education
Takes up the position of councilor with the National Museum of Western Art
Takes up the position of councilor with the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo
1960   Awarded the Order of the Legion dユHonneur by the French Government
1961   Awarded the Order of Grande Ufficiale dell'ordine al Merito della Republica Italiana by the Italian Government
1962   Assumes his position as President of the Maison Franco-Japonaise
Takes up the chairmanship of the Bridgestone Tire Corporation (presently the Bridgestone Corporation)
1963   Builds a culture hall and an auditorium in the complex of the Ishibashi Cultural Center and donates them to the city of Kurume
1969   Builds and donates the new building of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
1976   Passes away
